A blog post a week 12/52 - Volunteering

This week is about my life, but it's not very happy atm

It's another late post.

I took on a volunteering role last week.

And yesterday and today I have done NOTHING except for work for said role.
It's been quite intense.

(I lie, I did spend 1 hour out catching up with my parents)

And I still have a million other things to do for the role that I was meant to be doing (instead of dealing with the intense things)

Best intentions and all that.......

I'm hoping things get better.....
I'm sure they will

I need a good nights sleep tonight (didn't seep well last night).  Things are always better after a good nights sleep.
And off to work tomorrow.
All will be well

Thoughts for the week:

Have a great week 💗

A blog post a week 11/52 - We love reptiles

This week has been fairly ordinary (as most of my weeks are 😄)

But some highlights are:

I met up with an old school friend from Sydney, who was travelling around Australia and now on her way back.  It was great to catch up and we had lunch at the Country Club.

Of course I forgot to take a photo!!!!!!
Thanks for a lovely day Donna xxxx

Greg and I went to see Captain Marvel

It was an entertaining movie and very much about girl power.
We really enjoyed it and are now waiting for the next Avengers movie.

We have been following this series for a long time and we both enjoy it. Sometimes you need a bit of superhero action in your life, especially since I can't do real life emotional type movies anymore.

It was my sister's boy Max's 8th birthday on the weekend and he had a reptile show.

The boys ABSOLUTELY loved it.
Here are some pics:

I have been sick with a bit of a lurgy, but it's starting to get better now thank goodness.

I have been getting prepared for our P&C AGM, which is a bit of work but I enjoy it.

I haven't really had much time to do any crochet or painting this week, but hope to get back into it soon.

Terrible news about some psycho going into a NZ mosque and killing lots of people.  He was an Australian nut case with a machine gun.  While I don't agree with religion (any), to do that - well words can't really explain - no one should be able to walk around with a machine gun and kill people.  I worked with a very lovely Muslim lady who was just such a nice person.  Those poor poor people.

If you are looking for a yummy light mean, these steamed frozen meals are really nice.

A blog post a week 10/52 - How time flies

Hello again

OMG I'm a day late in my blogging as I have been so busy that I didn't get time to write a post.

The most exciting news is that Miss Jemma turned
18!!!

I can't believe it.

Jemma was the little baby that I had waited for, for a long time.  She was the only good that came out of a lot of heartbreak and absolute darkness (I found out I was pregnant the day of Sean's funeral).

Sister Love

She was always a bit bossy and a bit stubborn.

We always said she would be a great teacher..................
and now she is a fantastic childcare worker. She may become a teacher - if she want's to.
Otherwise, she is a wonderful educator and she is just so great with kids - they all love her.
She puts that bossiness to good use 😁

I'm so proud of her.
Happy 18th Jemma
💖

In other good news I bought myself plantation shutters for the house.
Yes, I almost had to take out a mortgage on the house to afford them.
(they are SOOOO expensive)
It's very hard to take a good picture of these with my phone for some reason
But, they look fantastic.
I have wanted shutters for about 20 years - but couldn't afford them.
Mum and Dad gave me some $$ towards them ages ago (thanks M&D) - that made a small dent in the price.
I love them and they really make our place look next level fab.

It's been funny watching people in the street slow down to sticky beak at them as they drive past 😂

Some fun at home - eat your heart out Bruce Lee

I have had lots happening but it's all good.

Have a great week 💗

A blog post a week 9/52 - Love at the front line

All our visitors went home last week and the house is now strangely quiet and we are back into our normal routines.

I bought myself this cool little plant called Swiss Cheese Plant (Monstera Adansonii).  It's going great guns in it's new home with us - lot's of new growth.

My Aldi blender died 😒

It started smelling like it was burning, so we took it back.  I think if I'd kept using it, it would have caught on fire.  When Greg took it back, the lady said "Oh another one".  Hmmmmm

So I got this one

It works really well, so fingers crossed it doesn't break down too.

I was talking about routines and being back in them
BUT
in the real world, normal routines are never really truly ours to keep.

It's called life and change.

And sometimes I don't like it one little bit

NOT AT ALL!

We found out this week that two of "OUR TEAM" are not going to be able to be a part of our team anymore.

I am literally heartbroken and shed more than a few tears.  These two wonderful people are so special and important in the boys' lives.  However, we are lucky because we will still get to see them, just in a different way to before and not as much.

It is no ones fault and it's just the way it is, but I kinda want to chuck a tantie like a 2yo because I don't want it to be this way.

Anyway, we have some options to explore and I am feeling positive that we will meet a fantastic person who will become part of "our team" in the future!!!

Funnily enough, this podcast came up on FB about having support workers in your life.  This lady, Sally, takes a very similar approach to me in what kind of team she wanted around her daughter.

So, the upshot of all this is - we have great supportive people in our lives - sometimes this will have to change and it will be ok in the end.  We have a happy life with some challenges along the way (as does everyone).

After a bit of a rocky start (because I couldn't understand the pattern properly - still not sure if it's written wrong or I was reading it wrong???) I have been crocheting up a storm for my blanket.

OMG how many end to weave in - LOTS!

I'm an expert on these squares now though 😊

Do you remember the grevillea's  that I bought off the dead plant rack at Bunnings and I got them back to life and then we planted them.

Now they're flowering!!!

They are all loving their spots in the garden and doing really well.  YAY!

Well, that's another week done and dusted.

Thoughts for the week

This is SO me!!!

Have a great week 💗
