I have had a little blogging break and over this time we had Christmas and said goodbye to 2012, which for me was a pretty awful year. There was some great stuff - I got a new niece, we did a fantastic reno on the house (the Playroom - will do a separate post on that soon), I got to spend more time with Jemma, Michael, Rhys and Ben as I took extended maternity leave and we are all happy and healthy.
BUT - I also found out that I carried the Fragile X gene (& it was in my family) and I had passed it on to 3 of my 5 gorgeous children. I also found out that Michael is affected by Fragile X and has a mild intellectual disability. For me, this had been a dark time - a grieving time and something that has shaken me to the core (because this type of stuff always happens to "other people" - doesn't it?).
It has also been a time for me to wake up and realise that this shit can happen to anyone - you just never know what is around the corner (& a lot of people have it much worse than me). It has also enabled me to realise who gives a toss about me and my family - especially when I really, desperately needed some support from friends.
It has all been an eye opening experience to say the least!
However, I am sure that 2013 onwards is going to be GREAT! In fact I know it's going to be great and I am ready for it!
I hope to update the blog at least every fortnight (more if I can). I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and New Year.
