We had a lovely day today with friends at their holiday house at the river. Shame about the weather as it was raining and pretty cold.
Their caravan - which is really like a holiday house as her hubby is a builder, is down at a Ski Park at North Sackville which is on the Hawkesbury River - a popular waterski river.
The kids went on the biscuit and had a great time and another friends hubby had a ski. Michael was really good playing but got very tired. We had a beautiful lunch too.
It was a real bummer that the weather was so crap, but everything was really green which is a change for Summer - usually everything is dead from the heat and sun!!
Greg goes back to work on Wednesday and hasn't got as much done as he would have liked. This is mainly due to the weather being so humid and rainy.
We are thinking of renovating the kitchen, however don't have the $20K that kitchens seem to cost these days.......that was a very rough estimate from Harvey Norman for a laminate 15 cupboard (or so) kitchen installed - crazy stuff!!! So, we are looking at a DIY / Flatpack type system that Greg can install (thank goodness he is handy at these things). I don't want to spend more than $10K but would prefer it to be closer to $5k. (maybe I'm dreaming but I want to try!!)
The reason for this is I will most likely be going back to work Full time later this year and I WANT A DISHWASHER!!! There is NO way we can fit one in our current crappy kitchen due to it being a non standard size, so it has to go. Although I do enjoy doing 3 days, I think that full time is worth it $$ wise (can pay the mort off quicker) and I am probably going to apply for a work from home day 1 day per fortnight (the other is a Flex day which we get fortnightly). This will mean Michael will only be in daycare 4 days per week and at home with me on the 5th day.
So, I am on the case!!! I think I have a design I like - very difficult with the space we have. Now to look for appliances and get quotes for the kitchen - wish me luck ('cause I think I'm going to need it hehe).....................
