Weekend catch ups are fun

The sun was out shining away and we had our wonderful friends Courtney, Erin, Enzo and Max come over for a visit a couple of weeks ago.

I decided to make a beautiful orange cake for morning tea but I didn't have any oranges.  Our lovely neighbours Suz and Matt came to the rescue with 4 home grown oranges picked fresh from their tree. Orange cake is a really fast, easy cake to make which always comes out beautifully.  I made a 1.5 batch and froze half for another day.  I'll have to put the recipe up on the blog.

Uncle Greg and I got our baby fix.  Look at little Max, he is just devine.

In my element!
The sisters had some time to catch up finally - gorgeous girls.

Courtney and Jemma and wee Max
I'm completely bummed that I didn't get a picture of the boys playing outside.  Next time I will have to be more of a camera demon.  Such a lovely morning.

Later in the day I was on a baking roll and made a double batch of Weetbix slice - it's a favourite here.

YUM MUM!

Greg cracked the whip and cut up some fire wood.  We wont freeze tonight for for a while yet thank goodness.

The cats had a nice rest on our bed with the sun streaming in the window.  They have a great life those furballs!

An exciting week next week as it is Alex's birthday.

Hope you are having a wonderful weekend too.

Finding my way back home............

I haven't posted in a very long time.

2014 nearly broke me.  Nearly............... but it didn't succeed.

It has been a year now since I have been gone from my old workplace.

NOW I AM WISER AND HAVE LEARN'T SOME LIFE LESSONS THAT I AM VERY THANKFUL FOR

My children are a mental, loud, boistrous delight.  We have our moments, like all families, but we all have a crazy, fun time.

My relationship with Greg grows stronger all the time.  We have had it quite tough - twins, disabled children, step-parenting, teens...........LIFE!!  We too have our moments LOL, but we keep it real have a laugh through it all - good times and bad.  He is a great, supportive, loving partner.  I am really very lucky.  We are a great team!

We don't put on any fake front for anyone - what you see is what you get all day, every day.

I have been super lucky to have been given the opportunity to completely change careers to something that I absolutely LOVE.  I am now a Librarian/Customer Service Officer.  I have to say, it is a great job, part-time and a good salary.  I work with lovely people - they are all really nice, good people.  I am so happy!  Hey where else do you get to see all the new great books, DVD's and CD's in all genre's, borrow them for FREE, work in the centre of a really progressive shopping mall and get to meet a bunch of lovely customers every day?

Not to mention....

Living the dream, eh.  HAHA  If you had told me that 12 months ago I would have told you to keep dreaming.

Financially, the goal posts have changed a little bit.  I'm not earning the salary of a full time person and I am not on the hourly rate I was previously.  But, because our quality of life is so much better, it's no sacrifice.  We are going along really well and have some good plans for the future (whilst recognising these could change at any time - lessons learned!!!)

So, my plan is to try and update this blog at least once a week with all our goings on.  The record of what has been going on in our life is an important one for the us to look back on.  I'm feeling very positive about everything now and really looking forward to the future.

Bring it on!
